If you can't beat them, join them

And if you can't join them, blog about them.

Yes, first it was Scottie and his loch Ness marathon I could neither beat or join him, now it's the Camino Norte boys and the 30km holes through the hills and coast of northern Spain.
Last year Richard, Stuart and I took the trip from Hendaye to Bilbao with the intention of carrying on when Simon arrived but he cut his hand in the bag carrier's nightmare place and he was done for so Rich and I did Pamplona to Logrono from a 3 day base in Estella before Rich got train back, Simon flew out and we all had a quieter stroll with Mark to Leon.
This year I'm getting to see some of the places we missed and it all looks stunning.
While I lie with mask on getting a few zaps here and there they're getting the wind, the sun, the hills and the coastline.

Bilbao, Portugalete, Castro Urdiales and along to Santander.

There's so much rich history on display and little boats across harbours like Laredo.
Well it's time I packed up my wee rucksack and left the luxurious albergue Western donativo.
They'll be headed for the beer festival in Laredo no doubt. You see how I said that with a smile on my face.

I think differently, I do. Sometimes the same but often cutting in at a jagged intersection is that contrarian view, that strikes the chord.

They've got their Camino and it's really good fun.

I've got mine and it just needs to be done.

They'll jump on a boat
and sail to an isle
I'll stand at a bus stoap
And wait a wee while
They'll sail the wild sea
I'll be bursting on a pee
They'll arrive at Santona
I'll empty ma stoma
They'll walk on further
I'll stop for a zap
Raise a cheer, feel the rush
You have a beer, I'll have a flush

It's a mirror, wacky mirror
I can see life going by
Parallel in my ways
I'm not going to lie

In later life, I'll walk those steps
They'll bring great memories
Of you boys having fun
As I was brought down at the knees

We'll laugh and drink then laugh again
When I was 15 stone and ten
I count in kilos now not then and yes
I'm back at 110!
