Hilary's drawing of Stuart Adamson and the incomparable lumberjack shirt, Roy Terre's interview with guitar hero and The first NEW ORDER interview ever, by Karen - the scoop of scoops as Keith ensured Deadbeat got out before the real music press!
There is one copy left and I'll try and load it up here during 2019 - in the meantime please accept my apologies and marvel at the pictures below when.....
Stuart Adamson and Big Country played the tiny wee venue of Night Moves and our thanks to Mr Potts for letting us in.
Night Moves was a great venue, we'd seen U2 there the year before.
That was when Roy Terre asked me why I couldn't sing like Bono.
I thought it was obvious, because ah cannae....I sing like me...
"Aye shite" he said and not long after left the merry band!
Another shout out for Stuart Clumpas for letting us publicise Dundee's Dance Factory with Hey! Elastica and the many bands in other issues too.
Stuart took an ad in most issues from #9 onwards, which was huge for covering the bus fares distributing Deadbeat around the country, oh and the obligatory toasties in the Tayside bar!
A one pint stop in Dundee would be bus, pint, Groucho, bus, but I usually made time for two.
Bus, pint, toastie ordered, Groucho, pint, toastie eaten was a Vinny Bee, Dundee palindrome for me
Once the drink started flowing I did tend to bend.
Bus, pint, toastie, toastie, another pint, another pint, another pint, Hi Hilary, what time does Groucho close, fuck it, yes, let's go to the Dance Factory tonight.....!
